Description

“A selection of top barrels, the 2013 Revelation Red checks in as a mix of 60% Syrah, 20% Grenache and 12% Petite Sirah, all from Rodney’s Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley, that spent 21 months in 47% new French oak. A big, full-bodied, sexy effort, it has terrific purity in its blackberry, smoked herbs, black olive and bacon fat aromas and flavors. It’s a great drink today, but I suspect it will evolve nicely through at least 2023.” ~ 92 points from Wine Advocate

Tasting Notes
The wine’s impressive opaque purple color is also indicative of the dark fruit, tobacco, anise, and baking spice aromas that follow, accentuated by a faint redolence of oak and vanilla. Upon first sip, luscious blueberry, blackberry, and currant flavors flood the palate, while sapid smoked meat, grilled toast, dark chocolate, and vanilla engage the mid-palate. This wine’s purity of fruit is balanced by chewy tannins and a bracing acidity that will allow it to age for years to come.
