Epiphany Wine Co
2014 Petite Sirah
Santa Barbara County
Our Petite Sirah is sourced 100% from Rodney’s Vineyard on the Fess Parker Estate in the Santa Ynez Valley, just northwest of Los Olivos. This site is known for producing fruit with great depth of color and flavors. It also produces wines of great texture, finegrained tannins that cover the mid-palate but are never too grippy or harsh.
The 2014 Petite Sirah embodies classic varietal characteristics, with an enticing opaque purple color and a nose of dark berries, including blueberry, boysenberry and blackberry. The damp, earthy quality of the nose, bring to mind tar, dried herbs and smoked meat. Ideal for winter entertaining, the mouthfeel evokes deep spices and dried herbs, coupled with dark chocolate, vanilla and berries. This wine is the perfect pairing for a delicious steak dinner around a cozy fire.
"A variety that excels in the Central Coast, the 2014 Petite Sirah (100% Petite Sirah) is rich, concentrated and long, yet stays elegant and graceful on the palate, with fine tannin and impeccable balance. White pepper, plum, leather and pen ink all define the bouquet, and it’s terrific stuff." ~ Jeb Dunnuck
"Inky purplish fruit, blueberry jam and chocolate are front and center...This is an especially flamboyant expression of Petite, with notable inner sweetness and concentration. Winemaker Blair Fox has done a terrific job of taming the Petite tannins while achieving compelling balance. This is another alluring wine in the Epiphany lineup." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous
"Charred black plum, cola and licorice aromas show in this rare bottling of Petite Sirah from Santa Barbara County. The palate is streaked with dark purple and black fruit, its tarry tannins and sharp acidity dissolving rather quickly." ~ Wine Enthusiast
