Epiphany Wine Co
2015 Hampton Syrah
Santa Barbara County
"...Its inky purple color is followed by a pure, graceful Syrah that has classic darker fruits, smoked meats, olive, and peppery aromas and flavors. It's slightly fresher and more elegant compared to the Bien Nacido, but still has tons of character." ~ Jeb Dunnuck
As many of you may know from learning about past vintages, this Syrah was grown by one of the original grape growing pioneers in the Santa Ynez Valley, Dale Hampton, so this wines infancy couldn’t have been in better hands!
Upon entry into the glass you can’t help but notice the dark opaque purple color of this Syrah. Dark berries, black plum, tomato leaf, dried herbs, tar, smoke and BBQ meat will be found on the nose. Blackberry and blueberry compote are the first flavors to hit the palate and are followed by leather, grilled herbs, dark chocolate and a slight tinge of scorched earth.
This full-bodied Syrah naturally lends itself to pairing well with heavily spiced dishes and grilled meats of all kinds.
