Epiphany Wine Co
Santa Barbara County
A paradigmatic note of black raspberries courses through the aromatics of this wine. A lovely, elegant note of baking spices makes itself known on the nose, while on the mouth, it’s just a feast of herbes de Provence, vanilla, dark chocolate and black cherries. A very long finish suggests it will age well – at least 8 to 10 years from the harvest date on the bottle.
Our Rodney’s Estate vineyard continues to distinguish itself as a compelling site with its own terroir, its own voice. Grenache, like Pinot Noir, is a very transparent variety and often shows the site of its provenance very well. Such is the case with our 2014 Grenache. As soon as you open a finished bottle of this wine, all that you smell is the Rodney’s site. The wines of this site are elegant, brooding, intense and yet never overpowering. We complement this site’s natural virtues with a thoughtful oak program. For this particular bottling, we chose 100% barrel aging, with 45% new oak barrels. What emerged in this vintage is a Rodney’s Grenache that possesses a lot of varietal character and still has that unmistakable flair that can only be found at this special vineyard designate.
"The 2014 Grenache from Epiphany is delicious...Black cherry, black raspberries, spice and hints of herbs flow to charming, medium to full-bodied, plump and delicious effort that’s a joy to drink." ~ Jeb Dunnuck
"a powerful, ripe wine. Dried cherry, tobacco and licorice overtones add layers of nuance, while the effects of the drought conditions come through in the wine's distinctly ripe flavor profile. This is in an especially bold, racy style." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous
