2014 Pommard Clone Pinot Noir
We began our clonal pinot noir program with the intent of isolating some of the very best individual lots in our cellar and capturing the nuances that each specific clone offers. This has remained a very small project - approximately twelve barrels of each wine - and delivers some of our finest expressions of pinot noir.
"Cassis, spicy oak, dried flowers, sappy herbs and licorice all emerge from the 2014 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone, which is medium to fullbodied, pure, concentrated and rich, with a supple, polished, textured style on the palate. It's a terrific wine and should drink well for 4-6 years. Brought up in 50% new French oak, it shows the slightly darker, earthier style of the Pommard Clone." ~ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Boysenberry, black plum, condensed rose petal and cola touches show on the nose of this clonal selection, which offers very purple-seeming aromas. Ripe black cherry fruit leads the palate, followed by rounded vanilla notes, over a backdrop of thyme, bay leaf and graphite." ~ Wine Enthusiast
“...the richest and most intense of these (2014) Pinots from Fess Parker. Sweet black cherry, plum, licorice, spice and new leather meld together in a supple, open-knit Pinot to drink now and over the next few years. The texture and creaminess of the Pommard clone is especially appealing.” ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous
