Description

"...bold, juicy and absolutely delicious. Ripe red berry fruit, mocha, flowers and licorice all come together nicely. Sumptuous and forward, the 2017 will drink well right out of the gate, but it also has a backbone of structure that will allow it to age for a number of years to come." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous

"...offers up a meaty, peppery bouquet with plenty of plummy fruits, violets, and incense aromatics. Rich, mouthfilling and pleasure-bent, drink it over the coming 4-6 years." ~ Jeb Dunnuck

"Tar, wet leather and roasted black-plum aromas show on the nose of this bottling. The palate is loaded with dark blackcurrant and black-plum flavors, with a touch of turned earth and dried meats." ~ Wine Enthusiast

Hampton Vineyard is located on the warmer side of the Santa Ynez AVA near Happy Canyon with gentle south facing slopes in a rocky shale loam soil. This vineyard is known for producing a big, dark and meaty Syrah. Dark fruit aromas dominate the nose carrying through to the palate and are complemented by notes of grilled herbs, dark chocolate and scorched earth.

This Syrah is versatile and will pair nicely with grilled beef, lamb or other roasted or braised meats, while also pairing easily with many hard and soft cheeses.
