2017 Sanford & Benedict Pinot Noir
Description
"...one of the standouts in this range. Nuanced, perfumed and beautifully layered, the 2017 shows why this site is so highly regarded. Bright red/purplish berry fruit, blood orange, cedar and sweet floral overtones build into the super-expressive finish. This is such a complete wine." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous
"Pale to medium ruby, the 2017 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir is scented of cranberry sauce, red licorice, Bing cherries and warm raspberries with accents of bergamot, exotic floral perfume and orange peel. It's medium-bodied and energetic with concentrated spiced fruits lifted by magnetic, juicy acidity, softly framed by grainy tannins and finishing long and perfumed." ~ Wine Advocate
"This pops with rich plum tart and cherry pastry flavors, featuring a creamy texture. Milk chocolate details show on the spicy finish. Drink now through 2024." ~ Wine Spectator
Sanford & Benedict is really the vineyard that started it all in Santa Barbara County. Starting with the 2015 vintage we were fortunate to secure several tons of Pinot Noir grapes from one of the most historically significant vineyards in all of California.
Originally planted in 1971, this mature vineyard yields a wine that is beautifully structured while also retaining the finesse and elegance we love in Pinot Noir.
