2017 Stagecoach Syrah
"...the most overt of the Syrahs in the Epiphany range. Juicy dark cherry, plum, chocolate, licorice, espresso, menthol and cloves abound in an exuberant Syrah that will appeal most to readers who like flamboyant wines....Stagecoach certainly has plenty to offer." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous
"Lots of sappy green herbs, cassis, leather, and spice notes dominate the bouquet...With fine tannins, medium to full body, and a beautifully polished, elegant mouthfeel, drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years or more as well." ~ Jeb Dunnuck
"A 100% varietal wine, this offers bold, structured layers of smoked meat, bacon fat and black pepper. Weighty and powerful, it has been aged 20 months in French oak, 44% of it new." ~ Wine Enthusiast
We love the diversity that Stagecoach Vineyard Syrah brings to the line-up, producing a full-bodied Syrah, rich in extract with a pronounced finish. The intense opaque purple color will coat the glass, while dark fruit aromas of blueberry and boysenberry, with hints of acacia flower, vanilla and baking spices are followed up by earthy notes of tar and crushed rock on the nose. Concentrated flavors of blueberry, blackberry and Kirsch liqueur are accompanied by vanilla, black pepper and violet on the palate.
This Syrah is well matched with semi-firm cheeses with intense flavor profiles, grilled bison or braised short ribs.
