Description

"The Hills - Block 6" is an older vineyard in the heart of the Rutherford AVA owned by the MacDonnell family (proprietors of Round Pond winery). The family has long been one of the larger and more respected grape growers in Rutherford, and kindly made several tons available of Block 6 – a decades old block planted in deep, well drained soils with a crazy five-foot high canopy system. The wine is true to the AVA with the intense dark fruit flavors, minerality, "dusty" tannins and wonderful balance. This is graceful wine that can be enjoyed now but will certainly reward cellaring.
