Description

If you are a Cabernet Sauvignon fan, you would be missing out if you didn't give Mourvèdre a try. This wine is a rustic full-bodied alternative originating from Spain. Black cherry and wild black raspberry are prominent on the nose, followed up by leather, scorched earth and vanilla with a hint of rose petal. Bold black cherry and plum flavors are complemented by wild thyme, cinnamon, vanilla and baking chocolate on the palate.

Pair this Mourvèdre with barbecue, pork shoulder or beef short ribs. For a vegetarian alternative, try a wild rice and shiitake / portobello mushroom based dish.

Wine Critic Reviews
"The 2019 Mourvèdre Rodney's Vineyard is once again impressive in 2019. A burst of dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, incense and licorice races across the palate. This deep, fleshy Mourvèdre packs a serious punch. All the elements are so well balanced." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous "Very dark purple flower aromas meet with crushed rocks, tar, elderberry and dusty sagebrush on the nose of this bottling. The palate is earthy and rugged yet generous in ripe flavors of berry, as oak coats the finish." ~ Wine Enthusiast "Blackberries, peppery herbs, violets, and a touch of leather all emerge from the 2019 Mourvedre Rodney's Vineyard, a medium-bodied, concentrated, ripe, yet also balanced and graceful expression of this variety. It's terrific today yet has the balance and tannins to evolve for 7-8 years, if not longer." ~ Jeb Dunnuck
