2019 Sierra Madre Chardonnay
"...gorgeous. Bright and focused, the 2019 shows all the pedigree of this Santa Maria vineyard. The aromas and flavors are very nicely focused. Lemon confit, white flowers, mint and chalky notes all grace the 2019, a wine that balances energy and richness so well." ~ Antonio Galloni's Vinous
"This starts out nutty and rich when first poured, with a fleshy weight that's hard to resist. The flavors fall toward caramelized apple and pear, and despite the richness, the wine's texture keeps it focused and very long, driven by lavish oak flavors." ~ Wine & Spirits
"Light aromas of gardenia and nectarine ride waves of soft cream on the nose of this single-vineyard expression. There’s firm tension to the palate, with lime and grapefruitpeel flavors, as more broad honeysuckle and orangeflesh flavors emerge toward the finish." ~ Wine Enthusiast
"An outstanding effort...It’s medium-bodied, elegant, and just downright pretty, with a lively perfume of buttered orchard fruits, lemon, and a kiss of salty minerality. It should keep for 3-4 years." ~ Jeb Dunnuck
Sierra Madre Vineyard experiences ample fog and cool breezes funneled directly from the Pacific coastline which makes for very slow ripening and well developed flavors with great depth.
Barrel fermentation and subsequent sur lie aging give this wine a rich and creamy texture. The extended ripening process delivers aromas of a ripe asian pear, wet stone and citrus that are followed by flavors of creamy vanilla, apple pie and pear. Best when served lightly chilled, this wine is smooth, luscious and eminently drinkable. Enjoy!
