A Fresh Chapter In Our 25th Year: Introducing Our First-Ever Rodney’s Vineyard Picpoul
As we celebrate 25 years of Epiphany, we're honoring our roots—and looking ahead. Our newest wine, a tiny-production estate Picpoul from Rodney’s Vineyard, represents both. It's a nod to the adventurous spirit that’s guided us from the beginning, and a bold step into something refreshingly new.
The idea to make this wine first took hold on a trip to Walla Walla, where our winery President, Tim, and our winemakers found themselves reaching for Picpoul again and again at the end of long, hot days, even though the trip was focused on visiting top Syrah producers in the area.
After ordering this crisp, zesty and refreshing varietal multiple nights in a row at dinner, a seed was planted: we should grow this. So when it came time to replant a few blocks at our estate vineyard, Rodney’s, in 2021, we decided to add a single acre of Picpoul to the mix.
Despite its growing popularity (we’re told Picpoul is having a “moment”) this varietal is still quite rare in California—with only 48 acres planted statewide.
The 2024 vintage marks our very first harvest: just 1.95 tons total. To give you an idea of how small the production on this wine is- it was less than 4 picking bins total and only 110 cases produced. Our inaugural vintage is bright, full of energy and freshness and has a citrus snap and minerality that makes it perfect for summer and a fitting way to celebrate 25 years of winemaking at Epiphany.
We’re very excited to share this wine with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we will be this summer!
